"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit."
Ephesians 1:13
Of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, Confirmation is one of the three providing initiation into the Catholic Church. The other two are Baptism and Holy Communion. Confirmation is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, whereby it roots us more firmly in our faith, unites more strongly to Christ, strengthens our bond with our Church, helps us and more obligates us to spreading the Word of Our Lord.
This is a two-year sacramental parish preparation process for high school age youth. In addition to catechesis, the process includes Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy, Confirmation Rituals, Workshops, Christian service opportunities and retreats. The rite of Confirmation occurs when the Bishop or Priest places his hand upon the candidate's head. Following is the anointment with the Chrism, a holy oil. Without Confirmation it would be easy to lose our way.
